Microreviews: volkl two and katana carbon, whitedot (many), scott punisher, etc
Provati anche i movement superturbo 192, non male e decisamente più maneggevoli del previsto... Però io per i movement non riesco mai a accendermi del tutto, li trovo ne' carne ne' pesce...
Spent about one hour per ski during verb demo days. Snow was variable from boilerplate to crud, corn and pow stashes. I'm 180x80, lazy and old... Well many of you already know it..
Volkl two, 18x (maybe 182 or 184, do not remember). Reported to be the first 5 dimension ski with full reverse rocker (shiro style). Very easy, forgiving and fun ski, still has its backbone as it has been used by some athletes in the FWT. The feeling was similar to the atomic automatic, maybe Just a bit less fun and more guts. A good one ski quiver for verb for sure.
Volkl katana carbon, 184. This needs a full review in coreshot... As a bottom line, it's a very, very interesting ski that goes beyond my expectatioms but needs a very tonic skier. Stay tuned for the report in coreshot in a few (hopefully) days.
Scott punisher 189 (or so..). Best scott i've skied ever, very solid under the foot, does not fear speed and is always rewarding. But it's reputation of crud eater is probably not fully deserved, as I've found the punisher not bad but certainly below the cochise and katana standards in crud. If you like the feelin of a classic ski witj positive camber and front rocker, than the punisher can fall under your radar as a one ski quiver.
Whitedots: I like these guys. They have skis with their own personality, not just another "me too". Tried the new AT tool called the ranger, some 108 under the foot and pretty light and svelte at 1.600 g per ski, then an astonishing investigational new version of the preacher with full flat camber from tail to tip (very directional but not hooky, surprise surprise), than two versions of the 188 director, the slimmest 5 dimension ski out there. The classic director rails smooth and has a silk taste (it should be used in powder though to draw any final conclusion), the new carbolite director is very light at 1800 per ski, requires some tuning before entering production but has a number of features that make it similar to the carboKatana: minimal swing momentum, lot of control under the foot. Mark from whitedot promised an improved version for november, I was pretty intrugued.
Forgot to mention, tried also movement superturbo 192. Stable and much more directional than anticipated, likely the best movement have skied so far but still not fully in love with the cap construction..
