Skiing in Italy

Per Fabio: dislivello = vertical drop

If you want to see very strong snow storm you MUST drive from Bormio to Livigno , It's quuite sure the fantozzianan storm near Passo Foscagno; there is also a beautiful hotel , alone in the white, the Iteralpen **** ; I've never been in this hotel, but it is my dream . Only the GRAND HOTEL in "Shining" film is more isolated ...
Every north-wind stream can find in Foscagno Pass (2300 mt above sea level) one of the few place to breack the alps barrier

I suggest Piancavallo, situated 30min from the Aviano USAF Air Base, in Friuli Venezia Giulia. there are a lot of americans and english speaking persons, it's not a huge place but it has enough slopes and rides! It also has a rollercoaster in the snow! www.promotur.org for info.

Welcome mituan.
"Skifoso" it's a word play. "Tifoso" means "supporter" or better, "fan". Hence a "skifoso" is a "fan of anything ski related". And this is the first word play. The second is the assonace between "skifoso" and "schifoso" (both are pronounced the same was, the sound of the letter "K" , which as a letter doesn't officially exists in the Italian alphabet, is rendered by "ch"...but this second word has an althogether different meaning...it means...disgusting
dreadful, awful...thus we're "disgustingly fan of anything ski related".
Am I right, Fabio? ;-)

.

Are there too few words about south italian ski resorts?
Because we have the southernmost glacier of Europe: the Calderone glacier. :Y
It's wonderful if we consider that Poland have moutains over 2000 meters without glaciers.

Watch with your eyes how big is our main ski resort: Roccaraso
- WebCam Live Roccaraso

It's 190 km far from Rome, two hours by car on average.
In March 2012 there was the 32nd edition of the FIS Alpine Junior World Championships.
